The countdown to Fleet Moves 2013 has begun. Our team of collaborating artists is growing and will soon head to the Wellfleet to create a brand new lineup of site-specific performances, workshops, classes, sensory walks, and other events (so stay tuned…)

As a community-driven festival, we depend on your support to help our programming come to life. We are currently seeking funding in order to cover basic festival needs such as artist transportation and housing, rehearsal and performance space rental, video and photo documentation, as well as production and programmatic support. We have set a fundraising goal of $10,000 by May 1st, which will support new collaborations, provide innovative and high-quality public dance programming in Wellfleet, and offer much of this free of charge.

Come dance the night away and help Fleet Moves create sustainable dance programming in Wellfleet! The evening of moving and grooving will include intimate dance performances, a screening of highlights from Fleet Moves Dance Festival 2012, raffle prizes, and a community dance party DJed by Wellfleet’s very own Paula Erickson. All ages welcome. Small hors d’oeuvres will be served and drinks will be available for purchase.

In this class, we will work to take ourselves apart and put ourselves back together working with breath, experiential anatomy, and imagery. Together we will increase our options for moving independently and collectively—emerging with a renewed sense of integrity and awareness that extends beyond the studio and into the practice of daily life. This class will be fun, a little silly, and is suitable for dancers of all levels of experience. Join us.

Fleet Movement Explorations is an experimental dance class in which we explore developmental movement patterns while sensing ourselves in space, weight, time, and the three dimensions. This is extended to exploring the articulation of movement initiations and refinement of body alignments. We play with evoking movementthough qualities of feeling, shape, force, idea, word and more. From this basis, we work out interactive improvisational skits. The class is basically informal, challenging, and fun, and a good movement workout. It plays spontaneously with forces, shapes, images, and ideas rather than specific dance technique. At times we will have guest teachers. All are welcome.
